God Created1. God

  • There is only one true God.
  • God is eternal.
  • God created everything that is seen and unseen.
  • God created man and, as our Creator, He knows
what is best for us, and we are subject to Him.
  • God is holy and cannot tolerate sin.

Ten Commandments2. The Fact Of Sin

  • We choose to go our own way instead of God's.
  • The Bible calls this sin.
  • We are sinners by nature and sinners by practice.
  • "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God" - Romans 3:23
  • Because of our sin we fall short of God's perfect standard.

Consequences Of Sin3. The Consequences Of Sin

  • Sin is serious. It separates us from God and disqualifies us from getting to heaven.
  • "But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear you" - Isaiah 59:2
  • The penalty for sin is eternal punishment in hell.
  • "The wages of sin is death..." - Romans 6:23
  • "And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire" - Revelation 20:15

Man's Helplessness4. Man's Helplessness

  • Man's best endeavours cannot do anything to remove his guilt or to gain favour with God.
  • "...and all our righteousness's (good works) are as filthy rags..." - Isaiah 64:6
  • "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast" - Ephesians 2:8-9

Cross at Calvary5. What God Has Done

  • Despite our sin and our rebellion against God, the Bible says...
  • "But God demonstrated his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" - Romans 5:8
  • Christ Jesus died on the cross in our place and took the punishment for our sins.
  • "Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed" - 1 Peter 2:24

6. What We Must Do

Accept that we are sinners.

  • For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God" - Romans 3:23

Believe that Christ paid the price for our sins in full.

  • "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved" - Acts 16:31

Come to Christ by faith and confess Him as Lord.

  • "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" - Romans 10:13

New Life7. New Life

  • When we trust Christ as Saviour and Lord we are 'born again'. All our sins are forgiven. Our old life has gone, and we become a new person in Christ.
  • "If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new" - 2 Corinthians 5:17
  • We are not free from trials and difficulties, but God has promised to be with us and to give us the power to live for Him each day, until we go to heaven to be with Him forever.
  • If we read the Bible and pray to God every day, we will get to know Him better and understand the way He wants us to live.
